Jim Donnan is a former American football player and coach. He was born on March 29, 1944 in Burlington, North Carolina. Donnan played college football at NC State University and began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of Florida in 1973.
Donnan went on to have a successful coaching career, serving as the head coach at Marshall University from 1990 to 1995 and at the University of Georgia from 1996 to 2000. He led Marshall to a Division I-AA National Championship in 1992 and coached Georgia to four consecutive bowl wins and a Southeastern Conference Championship in 1998.
After retiring from coaching, Donnan became a college football analyst and commentator. He has also been involved in various business ventures, including a sports consulting firm.
In 2011, Donnan was indicted on charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, and mail fraud related to an alleged Ponzi scheme involving a company called GLC Limited. He was ultimately acquitted of all charges in 2014. Despite this legal trouble, Donnan remains a respected figure in the college football community.
